I wanted to send you a note of thanks for all the good work you did for the city of Brookfield on the Calhoun Road reconstruction project. You appraised and acquired more than 100 interests from 77 different parcels totaling in excess of one million dollars. You also relocated three commercial businesses. You completed this work in less than 12 months without generating a single complaint to City Hall. In my experience, that is truly a remarkable accomplishment given the nature of your business. This accomplishment speaks volumes about your skill and professionalism as negotiators. We found your appraisals to be fair to both the City and property owners, well documented and very defensible. To date the City has prevailed on every contested case brought against the project thanks in part to your good appraisal work and expert testimony.
We knew going into this project it was going to be difficult given the relatively short time frame you had to do your work, and the historic, vehement opposition to the road expansion. Shortly after we started it became obvious we had underestimated how difficult the acquisition would be. More than half of the interests acquired would "go the distance" and be acquired through an award. Marc and Steve, it is my experience that anyone can do what they say they are going to do when things go well or as expected. It is when "the going" gets tough that a consultant's character is tested. Well, this "going" got pretty tough and you fellas passed the test with flying colors. You did not complain, you did not ask to renegotiate our agreement, you just did what was necessary to complete the acquisitions on time.
